DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Review (2026): The Ultimate Vlogging Camera

DJI Osmo Pocket 4

9.8 / 10

VERDICT

Smartphones have good cameras, but they don't have a 3-axis mechanical gimbal. The Pocket 4 produces buttery smooth footage that looks like it was shot on a Hollywood set. The 1-inch sensor is a beast in low light, capturing clean night walks in Tokyo or New York without the grainy noise of an iPhone.

The Big Picture

The Osmo Pocket 4 fixes the only complaint about the Pocket 3: the zoom. It now features a sharper digital zoom and improved AI focusing. The rotatable 2-inch OLED screen lets you switch between vertical (TikTok) and horizontal (YouTube) filming instantly. It fits in your pocket, starts up in 1 second, and tracks your face automatically wherever you go.

🎥 ActiveTrack 7.0

The Magic: You never leave the frame.
How it works: Set the camera on a table, highlight your face, and walk around. The gimbal head will physically rotate to follow you. It’s perfect for solo creators who don't have a cameraman.

🌑 Night Mode & 10-bit Color

Pro quality.
Performance: It records in D-Log M, giving you massive flexibility to color grade in post-production. The low-light performance is stunning, pulling details out of shadows that would be pitch black on other action cams.

The Pros

  • Portability: Truly pocketable power.
  • Audio: Comes with the DJI Mic 2 transmitter (in the Creator Combo) for crystal clear wireless audio.
  • Stabilization: Mechanical stabilization beats electronic stabilization every time.
  • Screen: Big, bright rotatable touchscreen is a joy to use.

The Cons

  • Ruggedness: It is fragile. One drop on the gimbal head and it's game over (not an action cam).
  • Waterproof: Not waterproof without a bulky case.
  • Battery: Non-removable battery (though it charges very fast).

🤔 Should you buy it?

YES if you are a vlogger, traveler, or parent who wants the best possible video quality with zero effort.

NO if you want to film surfing or mountain biking (get the GoPro Hero 14 or DJI Osmo Action 5).
