Dreame X40 Ultra Review (2026): The Robot That Ditches Its Mops

Dreame X40 Ultra

9.6 / 10

VERDICT

Dreame has out-innovated everyone this year. The X40 Ultra solves the wet carpet problem permanently by physically detaching its mop pads at the station. With a swinging side brush that reaches deep into corners and 12,000Pa suction, it is a cleaning monster that rivals the best.

The Big Picture

Other robots promise to "lift" their wet mops 10mm over carpets. But on thick rugs, that's not enough. The Dreame X40 Ultra is smarter. It maps your home, identifies carpets, and thinks: "I shouldn't take water there." It drives to the dock, magnetically drops its mop pads, and goes to vacuum the rugs completely dry. It’s genius.

🦾 Dual Flex Arms

Roborock extends the side brush. Dreame extends BOTH.
Side Brush: Pops out to sweep dust from corners.
Mop Pad: Swings out ("RoboSwing") to wipe under low furniture and along baseboards. No dead zones are left behind.

🧼 The Omni Station

The base is fully automated.
70°C Hot Water: It washes mops hotter than Roborock, melting sticky kitchen grease effectively.
Auto-Everything: It empties dust, refills water, adds cleaning solution automatically, and cleans its own washboard (self-cleaning base) to prevent odors.

The Pros

  • Mop Detachment: The only 100% safe solution for thick carpets.
  • 12,000Pa Suction: Incredible power for pet hair.
  • UV Sterilization: The dock uses UV light to kill bacteria in the dust bag.
  • Reach is unbeatable thanks to extending arm and leg.

The Cons

  • The App (Dreamehome) is slightly buggy compared to Roborock's.
  • Object avoidance is good, but Roborock's is slightly better.
  • Very expensive flagship pricing.

🤔 Should you buy it?

YES if you have high-pile carpets (shaggy rugs). The mop detachment feature makes it the ONLY choice for you.

NO if your home is mostly hard floors (get the Roborock Q Revo Master for a better price).
