Flair Smart Vents
VERDICT
If you have central AC, you need this. It fixes the "hot room" problem instantly. By placing a sensor (puck) in the hot room, the system closes the vents in the already-cold rooms and forces the air where it's needed. It turns a "dumb" central AC into a sophisticated zoning system for a fraction of the cost of renovation.
The Big Picture
Traditional vents are static metal grates. Flair Vents are motorized robots. They connect to your Ecobee or Nest thermostat. When the living room reaches the target temp, Flair closes the living room vent so the bedroom gets all the airflow. It ensures every room is exactly the temperature you want.
🔋 Battery & Wired
The Design: Flexible installation.
Specs: They run on standard C-batteries that last 2+ years, so you don't need to run wires through your ducts. They come in all standard sizes (4x10, 6x10, etc.) to fit existing holes perfectly.
🌡️ Back Pressure Protection
Safety first.
Tech: Closing too many vents can damage your AC blower. Flair is smart enough to monitor duct pressure and will automatically open vents if the pressure gets too high, protecting your expensive HVAC system.
✅ The Pros
- Comfort: Eliminates hot/cold spots effectively.
- Integration: Works natively with Ecobee, Nest, and Honeywell.
- Design: Look modern and sleek (metal construction, not plastic).
❌ The Cons
- Price: Expensive ($99 per vent + $119 for the Puck).
- Batteries: Changing batteries in a ceiling vent requires a ladder.
