Sonos Move 2 Review (2026): The Only Speaker You Need Indoors and Out

Sonos Move 2

9.3 / 10

VERDICT

The Move 2 is a triumph. It takes everything good about the original and fixes the flaws. With a massive 24-hour battery life and true stereo sound, it bridges the gap between a high-fidelity living room speaker and a rugged outdoor companion. It is heavy, but the sound justifies the weight.

The Big Picture

Portable speakers usually compromise on sound quality for size. The Sonos Move 2 refuses to compromise. It is big, heavy, and loud. It connects to your Wi-Fi at home to work like any other Sonos speaker, but grab the handle and take it to the backyard, and it instantly switches to Bluetooth without missing a beat.

🔊 True Stereo Sound

The Upgrade: The first generation was mono. The Move 2 has two angled tweeters.
The Result: It creates a wide stereo separation. Vocals stay in the center while instruments feel pushed to the left and right. It fills an open patio with rich, detailed sound that tiny Bluetooth speakers can't match.

🔋 24-Hour Stamina

This is the game changer.
Performance: It more than doubles the battery life of its predecessor. You can play music from sunrise to sunset and still have power left. Plus, the charging base is smaller and detachable, and you can even use the USB-C port to charge your phone!

The Pros

  • Exceptional battery life (24 hours).
  • Automatic Trueplay: Tunes itself using microphones wherever you place it.
  • Weather-resistant (IP56) handles rain and dust easily.
  • Simultaneous Bluetooth and Wi-Fi playback.

The Cons

  • Heavy: Weighs 3kg (not for hiking).
  • Expensive ($449).
  • No Google Assistant: Only supports Alexa and Sonos Voice Control.

🤔 Should you buy it?

YES if you have a patio, pool, or balcony and want premium sound that moves with you.

NO if you want a travel speaker to throw in your backpack (get the Sonos Roam 2 or JBL Flip 6).
