If your primary goal is to block out the world, buy these. The XM6 retains the crown for the best Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) on the market. Sony has finally refined the design to be more comfortable for glasses wearers and improved the microphone quality to a level where you can take Zoom calls in a windy park.
The Big Picture
The previous XM5 was great but controversial due to its non-folding design. The XM6 keeps the sleek, modern look but introduces "Silent Hinges" that reduce mechanical noise. Under the hood, the new Dual Processor architecture analyzes environmental sound 70,000 times per second, adapting the cancellation instantly when you move from a quiet office to a noisy street.

The Upgrade: Traditional ANC blocks low rumbles (planes). The XM6 targets mid-frequencies (human voices).
